Organisation

Kumpula Space Centre is an organisation for co-operation

  • within the Kumpula Campus
  • with other Finnish space research units
  • with Finnish Space industry
  • toward international space community
It is not a new institute or space agency.

The Director of the Centre is Prof. Hannu Koskinen and the Deputy Director Prof. Tuija Pulkkinen. The personnel of the Centre are either FMI or University employees working in projects that have been included in the programme of the Centre.

The Centre is supervised by the Steering Group whose members are

  • Professor Juhani Keinonen, Dept. of Physical Sciences, UH (Chairman)
  • Professor Yrjö Viisanen, FMI (Vice-Chairman)
  • Director General Petteri Taalas, FMI, on leave at WMO
  • Professor Jukka Paakki, Dean of the Faculty of Science, UH
